teve Rapp made it look
easy Sunday in the Vance
& Hines Harley-Davidson
Series race at Barber Motors-
ports Park. The defending series
champ led every lap en route
to an 11.114-second victory over
Danny Eslick and Ben Carlson -
this coming on the heels of a rare
crash for Rapp at Road America
in the last round.
Rapp was flawless on his Sub-
urban Motors Harley-Davidson
XR1200. He won the pole with
a new class record and then in
the final took an early lead and
steadily pulled away. There was
an epic five-rider battle for sec-
ond with Kyle Wyman crashing
out of that battle on lap five. In
the end it was Eslick winning the
position over Carlson, with Tyler
O'Hara and Shane Narbonne
rounding out the top five.
Daytona winner O'Hara now
leads the series by just a single
point, 66-65, over Eslick. Carl-
son is third with 60 points. Gage
McAllister is still very much in the
title hunt as well. His consistent
results have put him in fourth, just
10 points out of the series lead.
The Barber victory marked the
first win of the season for Rapp.
"That's the way I like for those
races to go, running out front by
myself," Rapp said. "My crew
gave me the best XR1200 out
there; probably the best one in
America and I appreciate all their
hard work."
When talking about being able
to pull away to such a large mar-
gin of victory Rapp felt it mainly
came down to experience.
