GEICO AMA ENDUROCROSS SERIES
VOL. 51 ISSUE 25 JUNE 24, 2014 P73
Briefly...
The EnduroCross series will take
a two-month break and resume on
Saturday, August 23 for a first-time
trip to Atlanta. This will be the first
visit to the east coast in a couple of
years for EnduroCross.
Canada's Cory Graffunder has
been a regular on the EnduroCross
tour for several years now and was a
Husqvarna factory rider for the 2009-
2013 seasons. Despite consistent
top results, including two podium fin-
ishes during the 2013 season, Graf-
funder found himself without a ride
after Mike Brown moved from KTM to
Husqvarna for 2014. Graffunder was
talking with the French Sherco man-
ufacturer and even raced a Sherco
at the King of the Motos in January
but ultimately was unable to agree to
a deal. So he teamed up with Brady
Allard, a longtime RPM KTM Team
technician who created Durt Werx
racing. Allard bought Mike Brown's
2013 KTM 350 EnduroCross bike
and, minus a few factory parts, is the
bike that Graffunder is now racing.
"This is a great bike and we are get-
ting really great support from a long
list of good sponsors to make this all
work," Graffunder said. "Kenda tire,
Troy Lee Designs, Rekluse, Silko-
line, TBT Racing, Fasst Company,
Super B and 509 Goggles are all
helping me get to the races." Graf-
funder had a solid fifth-place finish in
Sacramento and currently holds fifth
in the point standings.
Fan favorite Destry Abbott still has
the speed to run with the young
guns of EnduroCross and was part
of one of the most exciting races of
the night. Kyle Redmond, Bobby
Prochnau and Abbott had a race-
long three-way battle for the final
