in the hunt. In the second moto,
the redheaded Oklahoman held
off intense pressure from both
Dungey and Roczen but never
buckled.
"Overall, it was a great day,"
said Canard. "I was kind of
bummed, though, I got right up
on James and I felt like I could
make a charge on him and I
missed the double and kind of
lost touch with him. But it end-
ed up being a good day and we
made some good progress.
"We made some changes be-
fore the second moto and it made
such a big difference, the bike
was turning so well. There were
a lot of lappers and I missed that
big double three or four times,
and that makes it difficult be-
cause you lose a lot of time when
that happens."
At this point, Canard's main
goal is to get a win, something
that has eluded him on a big bike
outdoors.
"I want to fight for position and
be in it, but mainly I just want to
win. It's been such a long time,"
said Canard. "I think the KTM
guys are the most comfortable
when it comes to setup. And I
think James is getting comfort-
able, so I'm looking for that com-
fort level that those guys have.
We're making minor changes
trying to get there, because you
don't want to make a big change
