Delays in arrival of the planned FTR chassis forced Yamaha to pro- vide chassis and swingarm for the start of this season. This finally ar- rived at Mugello, with FTR involved in the construction, but design handled by ex-FTR founder Mark Taylor, the project headed by team technical manager Sergio Verbena. Plans to copy Yamaha's chassis floundered on several levels, including a lack of detailed technical information and the difficulty in obtaining the correct grade of aluminum outside of Ja- pan.
