MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 7/JUNE 15, 2014
CIRCUIT OF CATALUNYA/BARCELONA, SPAIN
P68
The Fab Four:
Marquez (93), Rossi
(46), Pedrosa (26)
and Lorenzo (99)
were close for the
majority of what was
the best MotoGP of
the season thus far.
battling for victory as the iconic American-
Australian golden generation did a few
times almost 25 years ago. As you may
guess, this doesn't happen every week-
end.
"Today was a really tough race, even
more than Mugello," said Marquez in the
post-race press conference. "I struggled
a bit at the start and made a mistake on
the limit, then went wide. After that I came
back, and had a great battle in the last lap
with Dani [Pedrosa]."
At the same time, rain threatened to ruin
the most thrilling encounter of the year so
far. For a moment it seemed that riders
would have to pit to jump on their second
bikes. We will never know what would have
happened then, but the moment of confu-
sion passed before it became a reality.
The battle raged all race long: Marquez,
teammate and pole starter Dani Pedrosa,
and long-time leader Rossi were furiously
engaged throughout; second Movistar Ya-
maha rider Jorge Lorenzo hung on grimly,
given a second chance when the leaders
slowed mid-race, after a yellow-flag confu-
sion saw them all slow to reshuffle, to re-
gain pre-flag positions.
