GEICO AMA ENDUROCROSS SERIES
VOL. 51 ISSUE 23 JUNE 10, 2014 P89
Briefly...
The first ever X Games visit to Aus-
tin proved to be a huge success
as the world class Circuit Of The
Americas hosted the event. The
large facility allowed for a festival
type atmosphere with excellent view-
ing locations for the huge crowd that
showed up.
For X Games, the same area is used
for Enduro X, Freestyle, Speed &
Style, Best Whip and Step Up. The
course crew was busy converting
the course several times throughout
the weekend. The EnduroCross
course was well received by the
riders as the large Freestyle landing
ramps provided excellent elevation
changes and the outdoor venue al-
lowed for a more open track.
X Games typically attracts a lot of
international riders, which adds
to the excitement for the fans.
Spain's Alfredo Gomez earned
a bronze medal in the Men's Enduro
X and his sister, Sandra, earned
a silver in the Women's Enduro X.
Australian Chris Hollis qualified for
the main event and finished elev-
enth while Edward Hubner from
Germany failed to qualify. Emma
Bristow, the British rider that won
the Women's Super Enduro Cham-
pionship, looked strong in practice
but struggled to a sixth-place finish
in the final.
The X Games counted points to-
wards the GEICO AMA EnduroCross
Championship and Cody Webb
holds a narrow one-point lead over
Taddy Blazusiak (48-47) after a first
in Vegas followed by a second in
