GEICO AMA ENDUROCROSS SERIES OFF ROAD ROUND 2/JUNE 6, 2014 CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS/AUSTIN, TEXAS P88 BY SEAN FINLEY PHOTOGRAPHY DREW RUIZ P oland's Taddy Blazusiak added a fourth Enduro X Gold medal to his collec- tion with an exciting win at the inaugural Austin X Games. He struggled to find his rhythm in practice, set only the 10th fast- est time during the hot laps and crashed while leading the main event but recovered from all of that to take a narrow win. American Cody Webb recov- ered from his own mistake early in the race to pass two riders in the closing laps to take the silver medal. Spain's Alfredo Gomez rounded out the podium on his factory Husqvarna. Husqvarna's Mike Brown took the holeshot but was quickly passed by Blazusiak to start the first lap. Brown then made an aggressive pass in the first rock section to re-take the lead be- fore going down in the second rock section. This gave Blazu- siak the lead with Webb, Gomez and Colton Haaker close behind. Webb then got hung up in the second rock section and held up the entire field, which gave Blazusiak a large lead. Haaker, on the Lucas Oil/Rockstar/JCR Honda took over second and was closing rapidly when Blazu- siak crashed. Haaker was then on Blazsuiak's back wheel and the two riders battled back and forth for several laps. Haaker made his move when Taddy Blazusiak did it the hard way and came away with the Gold medal at the Austin X Games in EnduroCross.
