"I got a little antsy at the be-
ginning and hit a slick spot from
the rain and it threw me off the
bike," Strang said of his first
crash of the day.
Strang made up all of his time
near the end, where he passed
Bach and Ashburn for second
place, but soon after, the Aus-
tralian got stuck on a slippery
it was Ashburn who went down
after losing his rear wheel while
crossing a log, allowing Bach and
Strang to both get past. Then, it
was Bach who went down while
running in the second place posi-
tion.
"I had second on the last lap
and I crashed coming out of the
creek at the bottom of the power
hill climb as the second wave of
rain began to fall. From there,
Strang was forced to watch the
duo pass him back, while FMF/
KTM's Steward Baylor closed in
on the battle for second.
