MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1/MAY 24, 2014 GLEN HELEN RACEWAY/SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA P54 Helen. Bad starts, however, held him back a bit. He started off in 13 th in the first 250 moto and soon found himself locked in a duel with Christophe Pourcel for seventh. At one point, he had the pass all but sealed on the Frenchman when a lapper sud- denly blocked his line, causing Baggett to hit the brakes, which wasn't enough to keep him from hitting the lapper's back wheel. Although Baggett didn't go down, the slowdown was just enough to let Pourcel get away and had to settle for eighth. Baggett got off to a much bet- ter start in the second moto and finished a strong third for fourth overall. It was, however, the only highpoint of the Monster Ener- gy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Team's day, with Baggett's teammates Justin Hill crashing a few times and Dean Wilson going down with a serious leg injury. "I expected a bit more from myself," said Baggett. "But I'm happy to get the season started off decent. The track was super rough, but didn't provide as many lines as I thought it would, which made it difficult to move forward. "It by no means was easy out there, but we battled all day and tried to take advantage of any opportunity that was given to us," added Baggett. "The bike was working great, but every- one came out swinging and the competition was tough. I wish we could have been on the box, but we showed what we're capable of and we'll build on this heading into next weekend." POURCEL'S RETURN One of the biggest question marks going into the Glen Helen National regarding the 250 class was Christophe Pourcel's return to the National circuit: How would he do? We all know what he's ca- pable of doing but ever since win- ning two World titles in the MX2 Cole Seely was off everyone's radar coming into the Glen Helen race. Now he's on everyone's mind after finishing third overall in the 250 class.
