Briefly...
get a great start and was back in the
pack, but I battled a couple guys,
got by them, and finished seventh,
so it was good. The track was pretty
gnarly today and it was brutal making
it through. I'm happy with my finish
but I need to improve on my speed.
That's what I'll work on next."
Zach Osborne was one of a bunch
of riders who got caught up in a
first-turn pileup in the second 250
moto. Osborne said, "I rode pretty
well after a so-so start [in moto one]
and got into fifth or sixth place," the
GEICO Honda Team rider said. "But
then I tipped over and went back to
like 15th. After that, I had a pretty
solid ride and was able to get back
to ninth. I actually was feeling re-
ally good at the end of that race. In
the second race, I got caught up in
a little first-turn crash and hurt my
thumb. We don't know the severity of
the injury yet but hopefully I can get
in to see a specialist right away and
get back out here soon."
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawa-
saki's Justin Hill was also involved in
the first-turn crash. After experienc-
ing a mechanical problem that put
him out of top contention in the first
moto, Hill came back for the restart a
little banged up and couldn't really get
going, finishing 11
th
after a bad start.
"That wasn't exactly the start to the
season we were hoping for, but this
is the nature of motocross. It's brutal
sometimes," said Hill. "We'll go back
and see where we can improve head-
ing into next week and do our best
to learn from this and come back
stronger. The Kawasaki KX250F was
great, but we just couldn't buy any
luck today."

or anything and he almost got
me back on the next corner, but
I had the inside advantage.
"It was nice to get the win,"
he added. "For a little while
there I wasn't so sure, because
I was having such a hard time
making the pass."
"We were close together
the whole time," Roczen said.
"I feel like I could've ridden
better, my line choices really
wasn't there, made some little
mistakes. When you're lead-
ing and someone is close to
you, it's sort of a gamble trying
different lines. We battled the
whole way and it came down
to the last few corners; he just
got to the inside of me and I
tried to come back but it didn't
work out. It's three points [in the
championship] and it could be
a difference, and he stole them
from me kind of, which I kind
of threw away, and I'm kind of
bummed about. But overall I'm
happy with my riding."
CANARD'S WILD RIDE
Trey Canard probably thought
he only had two chances — slim
