VOL. 51 ISSUE 21 MAY 28, 2014 P53
known for his success in Super-
cross, but the TLD/Lucas Oil/
MavTV Honda Team rider just
showed that he certainly knows
how to ride motocross, too. Two
solid fourth-place finishes put
him on the Glen Helen podium
with third overall. But it was his
second-moto performance that
really stood out. He started off in
13
th
and steadily worked his way
up, proving that he is just as fast
outdoors as he is "indoors."
"I don't think I've proven my-
self enough in the outdoors to
have it in people's mind for me
to get podiums," he said. "But,
in my mind, I knew I was in good
enough shape to keep plugging
away at this thing. It feels good to
have the fitness to run up there
for a podium position."
Last year at this time, Seely
was mending from a serious in-
jury suffered in Supercross and
struggled to get up to speed and
form in the outdoors.
"When I was in sixth, I could
see Jeremy up front and I was
just trying to stay with him," Seely
said. "He was just plugging away
and by the time I got up to sec-
ond, I felt like I was leading be-
cause he had quite a gap. I just
tried to put my head down then I
cramped up a little bit and Coo-
per and Jason [Anderson] got
by me, but I felt like I rode pretty
solid.
BLAKE'S BACK AT IT
Ever since winning the 250 out-
door title in 2012, Blake Baggett
has suffered through seemingly
one setback after another. His
latest was an eye injury while
practicing for the outdoors. A
rock sent flying by another bike,
hit him just above his eye, leaving
him with vision problems. Had
the rock hit him 5mm lower, his
doctor said he would have lost
his vision permanently. Luckily,
that didn't happen and his vision
in the eye is much better now.
Baggett rode well at Glen
Trey Canard
got on the 450
podium after two
strong motos.
