AMA/SRT HARE & HOUND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES VOL. 51 ISSUE 20 MAY 20, 2014 P91 here in Caliente," said Ramirez said. "Last year, it was [team manager] Antti [Kallonen], Kurt [Caselli] and I right here in this park. I know Kurt's watching us right now from above and he's happy for us. "We've got to keep doing the hard work and keep pushing dur- ing the break so I can feel better for the next few rounds. We still have three rounds left and it's going to be close for the cham- pionship." CN OVERALL 1. Ivan Ramirez (KTM) 2. Ricky Brabec (Kaw) 3. Nick Burson (Beta) 4. Jacob Argubright (Hus) 5. Axel Pearson (Beta) 6. Brandon Prieto (KTM) 7. Skyler Howes (KTM) 8. Tallon Taylor (Beta) 9. Steve Kirk III (YaM) 10. Morgan Crawford (KTM) Briefly... pete in round six of the AMA West- ern Checkpoint Enduro Cham- pionship Series. Run in an ISDE Qualifier format, it proved a good tune-up for those interested in riding the Idaho City 100 Qualifier in two weeks. It's the first of two AMA ISDE Qualifiers to choose the Club and Junior World Trophy teams headed to Argentina. Ivan Ramirez proved the best at that one as well, followed by EnduroCross/extreme enduro specialist Kyle Redmond and Nick Burson. They swept the Heavy- weight A division. Paul Krause won Senior Heavyweight A the day after topping Senior Expert at the Nation- al, while son Brandon won Light- weight 2 (200cc) A after placing third in 200cc Expert at the National. Woman Expert Krista Conway was one of the more spectacular DNFs. Riding through the pits after the first loop, she looked down and saw her KTM was on fire! It reportedly took two fire extinguishers to quell the blaze. There were not only a couple Pear- sons racing, but 2007 AMA Hare & Hound National Champion David Pearson played the role of hare for The Sawmill Run. Leaving about two minutes before the field, he stopped around mile 10 — reportedly with a three-minute lead — and noted Ivan Ramirez as the first to pass him. Later, he wandered over to the fin- ish and waved the checkered flag for much of the afternoon. He plans to join Ricky Brabec and the rest of the THR Motorsports/Monster Energy/ Precision Concepts Kawasaki team at the Baja 500 next month. (Bottom left) Jarett Megla put all his effort into winning the Super Mini and overall Youth race in the morning. Here, he passes Caitlyn Kurtz who won the Girls class for the fourth time while Megla topped Super Mini for the fourth time this year. (Bottom right) Jacob Argubright's run of bad luck returned at The Sawmill Run when his bike refused to start in a timely manner. continued on next page
