The hot wind not only sapped
the moisture from the dirt, but the
strength from the racers as well,
namely in the Saturday afternoon
races which included the West
Coast Grand Prix and the Hare
Scrambles Pro race. Eric Yorba
proved to be the one to outride
and outlast the field, taking a
commanding win ahead of Justin
Seeds and Vaughn Wilk.
"The dust was brutal," Yorba
said. "It was so dry everywhere,
it was really hard to pass."
Though Yorba spent most of
the race out front, the FMF/RPM
KTM rider got plenty of dust in
the beginning after getting out to
a bad start.
"It was a dead-engine start and
my bike didn't want to start up,"
Yorba said. "I think I got a dead-
last start. I made quick work
of as many people as I could. I
ended up getting into second on
the second lap and just tried to
push."
On the receiving end of Yorba's
pushing was Kawasaki-mounted
Justin Seeds, who was making
the most of his holeshot and try-
ing to hold on to the lead.
"I just kept making little mis-
takes," Seeds admitted. "I could
see Eric catching me and then I

Nevada, round. He was
also the WCGP overall
Pro winner.
