For Martin, it was the first win of his career and it helped put a happy ending on a season that started out in the doldrums for him. "Obviously, it means a lot, get- ting my first win," said Martin. "I've worked really hard all year and to not qualify for the first two rounds was tough and at that point I had hit rock bottom. But to turn it around at the end of the season and get a win, for me it just shows I can do it." Martin was aggressive when dealing with Bogle, and made a bold move in the whoops to take the lead. "I caught Bogle in the whoops and then did the triple and I was able to hold onto the lead," add- ed Martin. "He tried to hold on around the outside and we made a little contact but I was able to keep it on two wheels and made it stick." Mind Boggling Bogle was ecstatic after crossing the finish line in second, pump- ing both fists in the air. And it's understandable, too, when you consider what he's been through. "From December 3rd, when I crashed and broke my back [Bogle suffered five fractured vertebrae and a broken scapula], laying there with so much uncer- tainty, and just really not knowing what was going to happen, I was thinking Supercross was going to be a wash again. [He missed last year's series with a broken wrist.] I started riding again about two weeks before Dallas, and re- ally I came back a lot sooner than I should have, but my doctors have been helping me every step of the way, getting by back lined up every weekend and a couple of times every week." Bogle finished fifth in that first race in Dallas, and got stronger as the season went on. In all, the
