SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES FINAL ROUND/MAY 3, 2014 SAM BOYD STADIUM/LAS VEGAS, NEVADA P54 >>250 EAST MAIN Worst To First In every practical sense, the Eastern Regional 250 SX title was all wrapped after last week's race in New Jersey. All three of the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki Team riders were in contention early in the schedule and two of them led the stand- ings at one point or another. But all three were forced to skip Las Vegas due to injuries. First, Adam Cianciarulo went down in Toronto, dislocating his shoulder and handing his teammate Mar- tin Davalos the points lead. Then Davalos crashed and broke his ankle the week leading up to the New Jersey race. Finally, Blake Baggett was hit in the eye with a rock while practicing and has been dealing with vision prob- lems ever since. All this left new points leader Justin Bogle with a much easier drive down the road to the title. Bogle went into the New Jer- sey race eight points behind Davalos but left with a 17-point lead in the standings, and with Davalos, Cianciarulo and Baggett all sidelined, no one could really touch Bogle. No other rider on the Vegas track had a mathemati- cal chance of catching Bogle, so Bogle had actually clinched the title before the gate even dropped for the 250 East final. With nothing to lose, Bogle grabbed the holeshot and took the early lead, which he held for five laps. All the while, Jeremy Martin had a bead on the Honda rider and moved in close enough to sniff Bogle's exhaust. Then when Bogle made a mistake, Martin pounced, taking the lead on lap five.
