AMSOIL AMA GRAND NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY SERIES, PRESENTED BY MAXXIS
VOL. 51 ISSUE 13 APRIL 1, 2014 P85
front brake throughout the first
half of the race, Duvall managed
to work his way into the top five.
On the final lap, Duvall made the
pass on FMF/KTM's Steward
Baylor, where he threw down the
$150 KR4 Performance Fastest
Lap on the sixth and final lap.
The elder Baylor earned his
best finish of the season with fifth
overall for the day, as well as fifth
place in the XC1 Pro class. Com-
ing off a year of injury, Baylor's
solid performance was a good
indication that he is finally recov-
ering from a recurring wrist prob-
lem.
Another minute behind Baylor
was N-Fab AmPro Yamaha's Jor-
dan Ashburn in the sixth-place
spot. Ashburn's consistency puts
the Tennessee-native into fourth
place in the championship stand-
ings after three rounds.
Factory Husqvarna's Andrew
Delong captured seventh place
for the day, followed by Johnny
Campbell Racing (JCR) Honda's
Chris Bach in eighth, Rock-
star Energy/WMR/KTM's Ryan
Sipes in ninth and Takeshi Koike-
da in 10th.
N-Fab AmPro Yamaha's Paul
Whibley lost valuable champion-
ship points with a mechanical
issue that ended his race after
three laps. Upon the end of the
race, Whibley and his team were
not sure what was the cause of
the breakdown. Whibley said,
"It's a bummer to have this hap-
pen but that's all part of racing.
We'll be back in South Carolina
for sure."
XC2 Pro Lites winner Trevor
Bollinger earned his first career
victory in the pro ranks and he
just so happened to do it in front
of his hometown crowd in North
Carolina. Bollinger led every mo-
ment of the six-lap race.
"This is a dream come true,"
Bollinger said. "This is what I've
been working toward for so many
years and I still can't believe I fi-
nally proved to myself that I could
do it and that I belong here."
The battle for second in the
XC2 Pro Lites class was between
Raines Riding University/Yama-
ha-backed Ricky Russell, Fac-
tory FMF/KTM's Grant Baylor
and Maxxis/KLIM/DirtWise KTM
(Far left) By the time Charlie
Mullins (pictured) got into second,
his teammate, Russell, was
already long gone.
(Left) Josh Strang got off to a fast
start but dropped back to third at
the finish.
