MEAD INJURED
AT STEELE CREEK

ff-road racer Rory Mead was seriously injured
while competing at the Steele Creek GNCC in
Morganton, North Carolina on March 30. The rider
from New Zealand who competes in the XC2 Pro
Lites class for Shane Watts' Maxxis/Klim/Dirtwise
KTM Team went down on the last lap of the race
and suffered spinal injuries.
He was airlifted to the hospital where he under-
went surgery.
Watts reported on his Facebook page, "We are
in Johnson City, Tennessee, and Rory has severe
fractures of [the] C5 and C6 [vertebrae] in his neck.
Currently he has no feel [ing] from the waist down.
He is undergoing a two-hour surgery right now to
stabilize and repair the vertebrae. It is uncertain the
amount or level of damage that has been done to
the spinal cord."
Following the surgery, Watt's reported, "Surgery
was successful in reconstructing the demolished ver-
tebrae, and no further signs of additional spinal-cord
damage were seen. He is in good spirits and keen to
heal up. Now starts the progress of moving forward to
regaining feeling and motion in his lower half…"

TUCKER ROCKY MERGES WITH MAG

Choice announced
last week that it had
agreed to merge with
Motorsport Aftermarket
Group (MAG). LDI Ltd.
(LDI), the sole shareholder of
Tucker Rocky/Biker's Choice,
will become the majority share-
holder of the combined compa-
ny while Leonard Green & Part-
ners, L.P., the current majority
shareholder of MAG, and other
existing MAG shareholders will
retain a significant minority inter-
est in the combined company.
J.A. Lacy, President
and CEO of LDI, will be-
come Chief Executive
Officer of the combined
company that will oper-
ate under the Motorsport
Aftermarket Group name. Brian
Etter will continue in his role as
President of MAG's branded
product, media and online retail
