he weather forecast called
for heavy rainfall leading
up to Sunday's Maxxis
General GNCC and while most
riders feared for the worst, 2013
GNCC Champion Kailub Russell
was anxiously awaiting treacher-
ous conditions. Russell may not
necessarily be the biggest fan of
mud races, but he hoped to re-
deem himself after a shaky first
round a few weeks earlier, where
another fight with the mud led to
mechanical problems and a poor
finish. Russell came into round
two of the AMSOIL GNCC Series
with a 23-point deficit to his FMF
KTM teammate and overall points
leader Charlie Mullins, who also
battled Russell to the wire for last
year's title. However, it's famil-
iar territory for Russell, who has
never won the premier XC1 class
at the opener, and usually suffers
