OFF ROAD
ROCKY MOUNTAIN MC WORLD OFF-ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES, PRESENTED BY MOTOWORKS AND DIRT BIKE MAGAZINE
ROUND 3/MARCH 16, 2014
CRAZY HORSE CAMPGROUND/LAKE HAVASU CITY, ARIZONA
P106
usual – a rough Lake Havasu
racecourse.
RPM/KTM's Eric Yorba got the
premier motorcycle event started
with the Pro-class holeshot, but
fellow KTM-mounted rider, Diet-
rich, who was making his return
to the WORCS Series following
a lengthy hiatus, quickly passed
him for the point position. Un-
fortunately for Dietrich, his lead
wouldn't last for long. He soon
went down in the motocross sec-
tion of the course, handing the
lead back to Sutherlin.
"I was right on Ricky's tail com-
ing into a right hander and he just
lost the rear end," Sutherlin said.
"He was pushing really hard and
I was kind of surprised; he's won
this race before and he knows as
well as I do that it's not won in the
first lap, and he made that mis-
take. I capitalized on it."
Back out front, Sutherlin
quickly pulled away from the
pack, but once Dietrich found
his groove in the sand and rocks,
the Kawasaki rider, once again,
chased down Sutherlin to briefly
take over the lead once more,
but Sutherlin quickly regained
the lead after just one lap, which
he held to the checkered flag to
secure his third straight win of the
season and keep his undefeated
streak going.
"I rode my own race," Sutherlin
later said. "I battled with a little bit
of arm pump and I guess that's
just the nature of the beast here
lately. I'm just going to have to
deal with it, and I came out on
top. I couldn't be happier."
With Sutherlin's third straight
win, he now has changed his
original game plan of racing a few
rounds of the WORCS Series.
Instead, he now plans on racing
the entire season, as he chases
after the 2014 WORCS Champi-
onship.
"I came into this series not even
planning to do the whole series,
and now it looks like I'm going to,
so it's good," Sutherlin said. "You
know anytime I can win, it's good
and KTM stepped up and helped
me out, and I couldn't be happier
with the way things are going."

race win.
