AMA VANCE & HINES HARLEY-DAVIDSON SERIES HARLEY-DAVIDSON BY PAUL CARRUTHERS PHOTOGRAPHY BY BRIAN J. NELSON S cott Russell may be Mr. Daytona, but there's no doubting that Kyle Wyman is Mr. Harley-Davidson Daytona. Wyman won his third Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson final at Daytona International Speedway in the four-year history of the class on a sunny Friday after- noon. Three for four, and believe it or not he was still stewing about the one that he lost last year at the Speedway – and he finished second. Wyman has nothing but fond memories of the Speedway. And why not? After all his first victory here was the first AMA pro vic- tory of his racing career. He also admits that after winning that first one he thought things were going to get easy. "Looking back at that, my first season, winning my first race… I thought I had arrived," Wyman said. "I was like, 'alright, let's go.' I went to the next race and crashed out. Went to the next race and finished like eighth. I was learning a lot from there. That was one of the biggest tran- sition years for me as a rider, just trying to learn that it wasn't going to come easy. I knew I was going to have to work every weekend." And work he does. Wyman is not just a motorcycle racer. He also owns the KWR team with sponsorship from Millennium Technologies his main sponsor. And at Daytona he was busier than normal. In addition to rac- ing in the Harley class, Wyman's KWR team was fielding three oth- er racers. And he was also racing in the Daytona SportBike class. Distractions? There were plenty of those. "Honestly, it really is," Wyman said before his win on Friday when asked if worrying about the business end of racing was a distraction to the racing itself. ROUND 1/MARCH 14, 2014 DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY/DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA P82 Kyle Wyman won his third Harley- Davidson final at Daytona International Speedway. In four tries. THREE FOR FOUR
