ROCKY MOUNTAIN MC WORLD OFF-ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES, PRESENTED BY MOTOWORKS AND DIRT BIKE MAGAZINE
ROUND 3/MARCH 16, 2014
CRAZY HORSE CAMPGROUND/LAKE HAVASU CITY, ARIZONA
P108
the day in the third spot right be-
hind Bonds.
"I like Havasu and this is like
a second home for me," Diet-
rich said. "I love the sand, and
the outdoors are coming up in
a couple months, so we put this
race on the map months ago. It's
a great training race; we got an
opportunity to come out and let
everyone know what I'm doing
and get in some good laps rac-
ing. I enjoyed it, and I enjoy com-
ing out to the WORCS races and
seeing old family and friends. I've
had my struggles the last couple
of years so, it feels really good to
get on the podium today."
KTM's Justin Jones charged
his way into the second spot early
on behind Sutherlin, but the heat
and brutal track conditions ap-
peared to take its toll on Jones.
His lap times dropped below the
six-minute mark and he dropped
back to the fourth spot, which is
where he stayed to the finish line.
Precision Concept's Robby
Bell hadn't ridden in weeks after
suffering a leg injury while train-
ing, so Havasu wasn't the best
race to begin his comeback. De-
spite his lack of training, Bell still
was able to salvage a fifth-place
finish to keep him in the points
battle for the WORCS Champion-
ship.
"I was at Glen Helen training
and a little kid on a 65cc – I was
riding right behind him - crashed
on a backside of a jump, so I
came to a stop behind him, and
just as I came to a stop and before
I could even gather my thoughts,
a guy came from behind me, it
wasn't his fault at all, he couldn't
see me, but he came in right
through the back of my leg. I'm
really lucky I didn't break anything
it's just been really swollen and
weak. My legs got really weak to-
day and this is like the last place
you want your legs to get weak.
I then started overcompensating
with my upper body, and it just
(Above) Travis Coy claimed the Pro
2-class win.
(Above right) Blayne Thompson
was the top rider in the Pro 2 Lights
division.
