a very tough track, and I'm happy
to come away with my home race,
my first Daytona, on the podium."
"I felt a little extra pressure
when my bike died in the heat
race," added Cianciarulo. "I was
worried about getting a good
start in the main because on this
kind of track, if you start in the
back you're kind of screwed, and
I started in third, there was some
pressure to get a good start."
Davalos completed the podi-
um, marking the second race of
the four rounds so far that Kawa-
saki has swept the podium in the
250 class, although he lost a few
points to Cianciarulo in the cham-
pionship chase.
"I'm glad I was able to get some
points, but I really want to be on
top of the box," said Davalos.
"There's still time and I want to
be consistent, but I need to make
something happen."
Hoping to thwart that Kawasaki
stranglehold on the podium was
GEICO Honda's Blake Wharton,
who in the end settled for a sea-
son-best fourth overall.
Wharton stayed within striking
distance of the battle for sec-
ond between Cianciarulo and
Davalos, but was never able to
make a pass.
"I'm just trying to make some
steps in the right direction,"
Wharton said. "It can be a bit
frustrating at times when you're
not where you want to be, of
course, but progression is good.
