ROUND 1/MARCH 2, 2014
PELION, SOUTH CAROLINA

And The Rest…
Despite getting only a few hours
on his new bike, Husqvarna's An-
drew DeLong finished the day in
seventh.
Shane Hufford was eighth on
his KR4-backed KTM, while fac-
tory Beta's Cory Buttrick and JCR
Honda's Chris Bach rounded out
the top 10.
The Rekluse Expert-AA Class
was won by South Carolina's
Zach Hayes, who edged out fel-
low KTM rider Tyler Trammell by
just two seconds.
"It was close but I'm happy I
was able to get the win," said
Hayes. "I was a little tight in the
first two tests, but I still rode
pretty well," said Hayes. "There
were some sketchy areas in the
clear-cut section and you had to
be careful, but I was able to stay
out of trouble and keep it on two
wheels."
Hayes was able to get in four
days of practice with Pro rider
Cory Buttrick the week before
the race, which he said was help-
ful during the race.
"I was able to ride with Cory at
Battery Park Off-Road in South
Carolina for four days and I was
able to pick up some lines from
him," said Hayes. "I think it paid
off some this weekend."
In the meantime, Trammell
won tests three and four en route
to the runner-up finish, while Tex-
as KTM rider Martin Howell won
the final test to claim third.
Hayes won two of the six tests
and finished 17
th
overall. CN
