BEST IN THE DESERT AMERICAN OFF-ROAD RACING SERIES
VOL. 51 ISSUE 8 FEBRUARY 25, 2014 P83
Briefly...
The original THR Motorsports lineup
teamed Ricky Brabec and Robby
Bell on the N1 Kawasaki, but Bell
was unable to participate after get-
ting hurt while practicing at Glen
Helen two days before Laughlin. A
rider he knew fell after a jump, so
Bell stopped to assist. Unfortunately,
another rider then took the jump and
landed on Bell, who ended up with a
sore leg and knee.
Nick Burson and Ricky Brabec
were among several doing double-
duty over the weekend. Brabec
stuck around and drove a race car
to third place at a dirt track oval that
night. Burson and his father drove
back to Southern California where
Nick won the annual Check Chase
the next day.
After teaming up with his cousin
Tuffy Pearson for the Parker 250
win, David Pearson had to come up
with a new teammate for Laughlin. "I
asked Matt Gosnell if he wanted to
race about two weeks ago, because
Tuffy left on his [church] mission last
Wednesday, only three days short
[of being able to race this]! I asked
Matt and he said, 'Heck yeah I'll race
with you!' "
Though now in his 40s and no longer
a full-time racer, Ty Davis demon-
strated the form that earned him wins
in the past as he blazed to fourth
overall and first Over 30 Pro with Kel-
lon Walch. But he was also there to
have his Zip-Ty Racing rider Justin
Morgan get more seat time on his
Husqvarna FC 450. "Laughlin's just
a good event; it's always been good.
It's been one of my favorites. I just

(shown) and
Matt Gosnell
were third off
the line and
moved to second
physically, where
they remained
for the win on
adjusted time.
