made changes to the bike and
in the main it was perfect," said
Stewart. "I knew when it was time
to go racing it was there, and that
gave me a lot of confidence."
The change that Stewart's
crew made to the bike was just
what he was looking for, and af-
ter gating in second place behind
Dungey, Stewart made a pass for
the lead on the opening lap.
"I got a really good jump off
the gate, but I did something; I
might have wheelied off the line
but was able to kind of power
back up," said Stewart. "Dungey
got an amazing start and he shut
me off, so we were kind of go-
ing side-by-side. I knew he was
going to triple and I thought if I
tripled too, I was going to take us
both out, so I doubled."
Dungey pushed Stewart early
in the race, but Stewart found
a line over a triple that allowed
him to pull away from the KTM
rider.
"We made some changes
to the bike and I felt that out for
the first couple of laps, and then
I found a really good line after
the finish and I started tripling,"
said Stewart. "I knew I was a
little quicker than Ryan in my
corners, and I was able to squirt
