up under him and get him on the
triple, which is where I passed
him for the lead. After that it was
just about putting in laps and
just keeping a nice and smooth
pace, it was a track you could
easily over-ride. I had one or two
sketchy moments, just coming
up short on the triples, but it was
a perfect race. Now I'm looking
forward to doing it again next
weekend at Atlanta."
Dungey Picks It Up
Dungey took full advantage of
his vaulting start to take the lead
in the 450 main event. Com-
pared to the last few races,
Dungey looked faster and more
in control.
"Getting that holeshot was
really big," said Dungey. "We
weren't able to hold onto the
lead, though, James got around
me and just had a couple of bet-
ter lines."
As far as speed goes, Dung-
ey had enough of it to hang with
Stewart in Arlington, but Stewart
had some of the lines down a
bit better on the tricky track sur-
face.
"After the finish line, he had
that triple, triple, triple, from the
outside, which nobody else was
doing. But once I figured that
out I was able to stick with him.
He would get away a little and
then I would catch up, so that's
how it went."
Dungey felt like tire selection
was key to his performance.
"The track wasn't the usual
Dallas slippery and we were able
to go with more of an aggressive
tire and didn't have to use such
a hard tire and that made a big
difference," said Dungey. "But
still the key was getting the start.
This year there are so many fast
guys who are similar in speed,
and the tracks aren't really that
technical, so it's difficult to find a
place to separate yourself from
the competition, so when you
can come up with a good setup

corner," said Wharton who spent last
year on the Rockstar Energy Racing
Team aboard Suzukis. "It was a mad
scramble at the start, and I reached
a point where I either had to lift or
crash. I didn't want to go down and
throw it all away at the start, so I just
got in line. I raced up to fourth or fifth
and then slid down in the second
corner, which was another place
where everyone was going down. I
got right back up but could only man-
age a seventh-place finish. At least
we got some solid points. I expected
more and will get more at the next
race."
Racing in his first-ever Supercross
event, Matt Bisceglia didn't really
get a chance to show what he can
do. "Today was definitely up and
down," Bisceglia said. "I was mostly
happy in practice. I started a bit slow,
maybe a little tight, but started feel-
ing better as the day went along. I
had a little fall in the heat race but got
up and continued okay, then went
out for the main, did a practice start
in the parade lap, and totally over-
shot the first corner because I had
no [rear] brake. Just a little malfunc-
tion with the bike, unfortunately, so I
couldn't jump the big jumps with the
other bikes."
RCH/Soaring Eagle Suzuki's Josh
Hill looked strong all night despite
riding with a sore collarbone, which
he re-injured in a fall during practice.
"I need to stay off the ground," said
Hill who ended up ninth in the 450
main. "I was riding in a lot of pain and
couldn't push as hard as I wanted to
when Wil [Hahn] went by. I'll rest up
and get back after it in Atlanta!"
