SUPERCROSS
MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES
ROUND 6/FEBRUARY 8, 2014
QUALCOMM STADIUM/SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA
P58
"That was one of the only plac-
es on the track where you could
make clean passes, and I just
kind of squared everybody up
and shot to the inside and made
a block pass.
"The team has been busting
their ass and we've riding really
well, and it's awesome to get
back-to-back fifth places. Maybe
next week we can get a fourth or
a third."
250 EAST MAIN
For the Monster Energy/Pro Cir-
cuit/Kawasaki Team, one team
member's loss was another team
member's gain.
Anaheim III winner Dean Wil-
son put himself in a great posi-
tion to get win number two on
the season when he put his Pro
Circuit Kawasaki into the lead
right off the start. Unfortunately
for him, he couldn't keep it there.
As he was trying to sprint away,
Wilson appeared to lose trac-
tion and momentum to carry the
next small double. As a result, his
front wheel dropped into the face
of the second jump and went
cartwheeling down the track.
He got up but had to head to the
mechanics area for bike repairs.
He was credited with 21
st
place,
good for one point.
"Tonight is disappointing," Wil-
son said. "After last week's win,
I thought we would be in a bet-
ter position but the crash really
set me back. My guys did a great
job fixing the bike so I could get
back out, in Supercross, anytime
in the mechanics area is just too
much to overcome."
Justin Hill, Wilson's teammate,
was pretty much right there to
take over the lead and he made
the best of it. Having already led
a main event this season, Hill
knew what to do and maintained
his fast pace all the way to the fin-
ish, despite knowing that Jason
Anderson, the master of the last-
lap pass, was always lurking in
second. It was Hill's first career
For both Hill (center) and Malcolm
Stewart (right), it was their first visit
to the 250 podium.
