MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES VOL. 51 ISSUE 6 FEBRUARY 11, 2014 P55 (he's won there eight times be- fore), but everything came crash- ing down on him on the last lap of the main. He was literally in the middle of a heated three-way bat- tle for third through fifth with Ken Roczen and Ryan Dungey when he took a header in the whoops. The three of them were com- ing up on a lapped rider when Reed started getting a little out of shape and then tagged Roczen's rear wheel. He augured into the ground head first, nearly getting run over by Dungey in the pro- cess. It was an ugly crash and he did not finish the race. After finishing third, Roczen immediately checked on his friend Reed, who was still sitting on the track being attended to by the trackside medics. "I'm bummed about Reed and I hope he's okay," said Roczen later that night. "On that last lap, I don't know if he got on my rear, but I was really close to Nick Wey, and I got squirrelly in the whoops and Reed hit me." Reed, complaining of pain in his shoulder and upper back area, spent the night in the hos- pital, where it was later discov- ered that he had suffered a break in his scapula, collarbone and T1 vertebra. After revealing the news via Twitter, Reed said that he still plans on suiting up at the next race in Texas. DUNGEY DOLDRUMS? Ryan Dungey can't seem to break out of the doldrums and get a win. A second at Anaheim I has been his closest, but he's been struggling to get on the podium ever since. He hit rock bottom
