IN THE WIND P30 AMA SUPERMOTO REBORN A fter a five-year absence, Su- permoto returns to National Championship status in 2014 with the AMA announcing its partnership last week with pro- moter USA Supermoto to form the AMA Supermoto National Championship Series. Featuring a six-round sched- ule, the series has three stand- alone events, including a down- town street race in Sturgis, South Dakota, and three in conjunction with other series – the Super Trucks Series, AMA Pro Road Racing and NASCAR. The 2014 season kicks off at the Super Truck event at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 7. The new national series will of- fer three points-paying classes: Pro (Open), Pro Lites (250cc), and National Amateur. And with the exception of the first round, there will be a full amateur day that will include novice, youth, intermediate, age and displace- ment-based classes. The schedule is as follows: March 7: Las Vegas, Nevada (Caesars Palace, in conjunction with Stadium Super Trucks) April 19-20: Lake Havasu City, Arizona, SARA Park May 30-June 1: Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin (in conjunction with AMA Pro Racing Road Race Championship Series) July 5-6: Denver, Colorado (in conjunction with NASCAR event) July 26-27: Salt Lake City, Utah (in conjunction with Bike Jam at Miller Motorsports Park) September 13-14: Sturgis, South Dakota Bulgaria will host a motocross Grand Prix in Sevlievo on April 20. SUPERCROSS STARS GIVE BACK A s a part of AMA Supercross' military appreci- ation weekend at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California, some of the stars of the AMA Supercross Series took time out of their busy schedules for a meet and greet at the Operation Homefront Village in Oceanside, California. Part of the Operation Homefront organiza- tion, the Operation Homefront Village assists wounded and disabled service members with transitioning to civilian life following discharge by Ryan Dungey signs an autograph for one of his fans at the Operation Homefront Village.
