GEICO Honda's lone 250 West Su- percross hopeful Zach Osborne is now pretty much out of title conten- tion after suffering a shoulder injury during the final qualifying session that forced him to miss the evening program. He was one of the victims of the slick track when he lost the front end and landed on his shoul- der area. X-rays that were taken at the track revealed no broken bones, but he left the track for further evalu- ation. Osborne was fourth in points coming into A3, but is now 49 points back in sixth with just four more rac- es left. Wil Hahn, also of the GEICO Honda Team, almost didn't make the eve- ning program either after suffering a hard get-off in the whoops during the first 450 practice session. Luckily, he walked away from the crash but suffered a hand injury that bothered him the rest of the day and night. He eventually finished 12 th . "I was doing as much therapy as possible be- tween sessions, but it really started hurting by about lap 15 in the main," Hahn said. "I was just counting down the laps from there." Basically, the Anaheim III Super- cross was a big downer for the GEICO Honda squad. Even though the team's Eli Tomac made his re- turn to action following his injury at Anaheim I, Tomac was knocked out of the race by a flat tire in the 450 main event.
