VOL. 51 ISSUE 5 FEBRUARY 4, 2014 P45
Briefly...
GEICO Honda's lone 250 West Su-
percross hopeful Zach Osborne is
now pretty much out of title conten-
tion after suffering a shoulder injury
during the final qualifying session
that forced him to miss the evening
program. He was one of the victims
of the slick track when he lost the
front end and landed on his shoul-
der area. X-rays that were taken at
the track revealed no broken bones,
but he left the track for further evalu-
ation. Osborne was fourth in points
coming into A3, but is now 49 points
back in sixth with just four more rac-
es left.
Wil Hahn, also of the GEICO Honda
Team, almost didn't make the eve-
ning program either after suffering a
hard get-off in the whoops during the
first 450 practice session. Luckily,
he walked away from the crash but
suffered a hand injury that bothered
him the rest of the day and night. He
eventually finished 12
th
. "I was doing
as much therapy as possible be-
tween sessions, but it really started
hurting by about lap 15 in the main,"
Hahn said. "I was just counting down
the laps from there."
Basically, the Anaheim III Super-
cross was a big downer for the
GEICO Honda squad. Even though
the team's Eli Tomac made his re-
turn to action following his injury at
Anaheim I, Tomac was knocked out
of the race by a flat tire in the 450
main event. He wasn't the only rider
hindered by a flat tire, so was Toyo-
ta/Yamaha/N-Fab/JGRMX Team's
Justin Brayton, who was forced
to watch most of the final qualifying
