Mullins has found a comfortable
home with the FMF/KTM Factory
Off-Road Team.
(Left) Mullins chose KTM's more
agile and less powerful 350 for
the enduro championship.
season with a pair of wins.
"Overall, it was an unbelievable year and it will be hard to
duplicate that kind of win percentage next year, but that's my
goal; that's what I hope to do,"
said Mullins. "The first title back
in 2010 kind of happened unexpectedly and that gave me a taste
of winning. It made me realize
how special a championship
is, and it makes you work even
harder for that feeling. I think
this one meant a little more to
me because I know how special they are now, to have the
opportunity to win a title."
The Kenda AMA National
Enduro Series is in its sixth year
under a major rules change that
made it easier for new riders to
be competitive, something that
Mullins took advantage of when
he won his 2010 title. A big rules
change for 2013 was one that put
the winner of the previous round
of the series on the front row for
the start of the next round. This
kind of mixes things up for the riders and it gives a rider that did bad
last year a chance to move up to
the front of the starting order this
year. For the most part, Mullins
thought it was a good rule.
"IT WAS
FRUSTRATING
P103
FOR ME TO GIVE
IT 100 PERCENT
AND THEN TO
SEE THAT YOU
GOT BEAT BY 30
SECONDS IN A
FIVE-MINUTE
TEST.
