Mullins also seemed to be a
lot more comfortable with the
enduro format. In fact, his style
seems perfectly suited for the
series.
"I really enjoy the enduro series, and I especially like the
short tests," he says. "When they
get in the 12- to 14-mile range
then I don't enjoy them as much.
This year, the tests were around
seven to nine miles and I really
think that worked into my favor."
Besides the DNF in Texas,
the Pennsylvania round was the
other "blemish" on the season,
and it turned out to be just one
of those days that didn't click for
Mullins.
"I struggled with the rocks and
some rain that morning and I just
wasn't into it mentally and things
kind of went downhill from there,"
says Mullins who finished fourth
in the Pennsylvania Enduro. "It's
kind of hard to bounce back
when you're a couple of minutes
down and you feel like you're
struggling, but I managed to get
through it with the least amount
of damage."
