RED BULL A DAY IN THE DIRT
JN Roberts helps get his
grandson ready for his first
race…
…as well as his granddaughter.

came - clustered together, waiting anxiously for their races to
begin.
Amongst the campers were
the Ward family. Seven-time AMA
National Champion Jeff Ward
brought out the kids with him for
a weekend of racing.
"We've been coming since
day one," Ward said. "It's just a
fun event; it's more for the family, but we get out there and have
fun; it's not supposed to be serious. But when we have a track
in front of us, we get in over our
heads - at least I do now! It's just
a big event that's fun for the family. It's a great weekend because
everyone's got it off, so it's cool
to be riding dirt bikes in great
weather.
"Yesterday I did the So Cal
Reunion Race [reminiscent of]
Saddleback, Carlsbad, Indian
Dunes, and I got second behind
[Doug] Dubach. We had a battle
going for the whole race. Today
[Saturday] I'm doing the Pro-Am,
which is the pro GP at the end of
the day, and I'll see how I last on
that one. I don't ride much anymore; I haven't ridden in three
weeks.
"My son [Brandon] rode the
two-stroke race this morning
and then my son, Ayrton, rode
the two-stroke in the 85cc (Mini)
class. He rode really well; him
and the leader were battling
the whole way. So we've had a
good day. I got five kids riding -
