VOL. 50 ISSUE 48 DECEMBER 3, 2013 Dakota Alix (37) and Hampshire had a great battle in the early going, but Alix had to drop out early with an injury. A class, winning both the 250 A and 450 Pro Sport Supercross finals and three titles in the motocross divisions: 250 and 450 Pro Sport, and the 250 A class. He nearly won the 450 A motocross class, but he stalled out of the gate in the final in what he would describe as a "beginner move." "I don't know what happened there," laughed Hampshire. "I hopped off the gate, not sure what I did, and stalled it a few feet out. It took me a while to start it and I'll be honest, I was hoping that I blew it up because I was so embarrassed." Hampshire passed all the way up to third but it wasn't enough for a sixth title. "It's been awesome here," he said. "Supercross went well and motocross was even better for me. The 250 Pro Sport race with Nick Gaines was awesome; we had a great battle. He was going for it and I was going for it, and it was even better because I got the championship, but that one was definitely the most fun. We had some good Supercross battles, too." With his five titles, Hampshire earned two of the event's most prestigious awards - the Pro Circuit Platinum Pipe Award, which goes to the overall top rider of the event, and the Dunlop Silver Tire, which is presented to the top A-class rider. "I felt awesome out there and everything clicked this week," Hampshire said. "The team is awesome and the bikes are great. I'm happy to win them for our team. It was amazing." Triangle Cycles Yamaha's Keith Tucker was a bit of a surprise. Out of the 10 classes he chose to race over the week, the North Carolina resident pretty P57 Briefly... hard. Before that, he had won three out of four qualifying motos, but this injury will no doubt see Bell out of action for some time. Thor and Parts Unlimited hosted a Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday night for all in attendance. Featuring plenty of turkey, corn, beans and pumpkin pie, everyone was invited. A long line formed but everybody had a good feast. Minnesota's Jerry Robin recently landed a bike deal with Honda that sees him aboard new four-stroke machinery. You might remember Robin – he's the guy who competed on a 1985 Honda CR250R at Loretta Lynn's and was very impressive. Robin said he's very excited about his new bikes, but he still has his old machine around. "It's here back in our camp," he said of the '85 CR250R. "We brought it here and take it everywhere with us. I love my new bikes, but that bike is not going anywhere!" New Jersey's Luke Renzland announced just before the Mini Os that he has signed with the Horton Racing/Rock River Yamaha team for the 2014 season. "I'm looking forward to a great working relationship with the entire Horton Racing program, and I am very excited to remain on the Yamaha brand," Renzland said. "Rock River Yamaha has really stepped up to support the Horton Racing program and I feel like that is a winning combination." Renzland won the 250 Pro Sport Supercross title and had a pair of thirds, but he crashed off the start of the 450 Pro Sport Motocross final and suffered a concussion. Three new awards were given out at continued on next page
