After being in the mix early on, running
out of fuel and a Robby Bell crash put
the THR Motorsports/Monster Energy/
Precision Concepts Kawasaki behind by
a significant margin, though they forged
ahead to finish second. This year's race
featured a first-ever night start, which
was meant to give more space between
the motorcycles and the four-wheelers,
which left the start line the next morning. It went off without a hitch. Plus, this
year's race used a pre-race qualifying
format to determine starting positions.
