mounted Bobbitt explained,
"Coming around the second
lap, my throttle started sticking a
bunch. It was real sketchy; it almost made me wreck a bunch of
times and was really scary, so I
tried just riding it three gears high
the rest of the time just so when it
did catch, it wouldn't loop me out
or really send me into the corner.
"I was surprised that I was able
to finish second, but I'm pretty
disappointed just because I knew
Nick and I were going to have a
battle royale into that second lap.
That's what I was looking forward
to and I wasn't able to do that."
Moose Run regular Jeff
Fredette suffered a rare
mechanical-related DNF.
P56
Bonneur revealed, "I took a
pretty nasty crash and broke a
hand guard, and my bars rolled
back. I stopped right after the
first creek crossing and I told the
Remleys -family friends of ours
- to let my parents know what
size wrench I needed. So they
met me the next time they could,
and I had a quick little stop to fix
them and roll them back the way I
wanted them.
"From there, I rode a lot by myself. I was riding behind [Goncalo
Reis from Portugal] until about
the second lap, then I made a
small mistake on an uphill and
that let [Jason] Thomas kind of
close in."
Thomas passed him at the
gas stop, Bonneur reeled him
in, then Thomas missed a turn,
which allowed Bonneur to pass
him again, this time for good.
Bonneur added, "I don't spend
much time local any more so it's
fun to race these types of tracks,
especially on a day like today.
You couldn't have had a better
day to race a motorcycle!"
Despite a banged-up hand
after breaking off his own hand
guard, Thomas hung on to finish
fourth aboard his FMCRacing.
