D ucati held its annual press conference at the EICMA Show in Milan, Italy on Monday, November 4 with CEO Claudio Domenicali showing off the newest in the Monster line – the 2014 Monster 1200 and 1200 S. Powered by the Superbike-derived 1198 Testastretta 11° DS engine set-up for mid-range power delivery and rideability, the new Monster gets a brand new chassis and design and all of Ducati's latest technology. There's also an S version of the 2014 Monster 1200 – a bike that boasts 145 horsepower and 92 foot pounds of torque and tipping the scales at 401 pounds dry. The bike gets high-spec brakes, suspension, a single- sided swingarm and lightweight wheels. The Monster also has adjustable seat height, eightlevel traction control, three-level ABS and three-level Ride-byWire – all controlled via Ducati's push-button Riding Modes. While the Monster 1200 comes in Ducati red with a red frame and black wheels, the Monster 1200 S comes in Ducati red with a red frame and glossy black wheels; or the second option of white with a bronzecolored frame and glossy black wheels. JORDAN, NATIONAL GUARD OUT OF AMA RACING A fter 10 years in the AMA paddock, Michael Jordan Motorsports will not be fielding a team in the AMA Pro Road Racing Series in 2014 as the basketball legend's racing personnel now look to turn their attention to fielding a team in either the World Superbike Championship or MotoGP World Championship. "Michael Jordan Motorsports will not be participating in AMA competition any longer," said Kreig Robinson, Michael Jordan Motorsports vice president of corporate relations, last week. Robinson also confirmed that National Guard will no longer be a title sponsor of the AMA Superbike class. Robinson went on to explain why. "There are a few reasons," Robinson said. "For one, the National Guard sponsorship is not complete. They will not be renewing with us or AMA Pro [as title sponsor for the AMA Superbike Championship].
