PREVIEW
ROAD RACE
WORLD SUPERBIKES AT LAGUNA SECA
2000 – HAGA, CORSER
AND 82,500 FANS
>>Noriyuki Haga and Troy Corser split wins in front of
a four-day crowd of 82,500.
>>Not many of the AMA "fast guys" participated in the
World Superbike event, but that didn't stop them from
posting faster lap times in the AMA races. This was the first
time the AMA championship joined the World Superbike
Series at the track.
>>Colin Edwards finished second in race one with Ben
Bostrom finishing third in race two – much to the delight
of the American race fans.
>>The 2000 edition of the World Superbike race was held
on July 9… the same day that Valentino Rossi won his
first-career 500cc Grand Prix at Donington Park.
(Below) Noriyuki Haga won the first race
in 2000 on his factory Yamaha.
(Right) Troy Corser, another rider with
plenty of success at Laguna Seca, won
