off really strong. I just felt really
good and the bike worked well.
Jesse Groemm beat me in the
fifth test, but I was able to come
back and win the final test and
put it away. It just had a nice flow
to it and the club did a great job
of marking it."
Groemm was Mullins' biggest
competition on the day, and the
Am Pro Yamaha rider got off to a
great start by finishing second to
Mullins in the opening test.
In addition to winning a test,
Groemm also tied Mullins in the
third test and finished out the day
in second, a personal best for
the New Jersey rider.
"I am so excited right now, to
finally get on the podium, I have
wanted this so bad," said Groemm. "The main thing is I just
tried to keep my head in the
game and not let myself get nervous or too excited. That's been
my problem in the past, I'll win a

event back because my dad said
it couldn't be done and I wanted
to prove him wrong," Shuler said
tongue-in-cheek. "We've been
working on this trail since November and I personally am on my
22nd straight day working on this
thing and I think it's almost 100-percent new trail. A lot of this trail in
the park will be marked single-track
only and the four-wheelers will have
their own trail so the two don't mix.
We've also put in a lot of work in
building bridges over the creeks
and we built them sturdy enough
so they will last a long time. Once
the enduro is over, the public can
come out here and ride from 6:00
am in the morning until dusk, seven
days a week."
