This race was as much about the amateur racers as the pros, as the top performers in A, B and C classes also walked away with official National Championships in their respective classes. And while they weren't eligible for any part of the $10,000 Pro purse of course, in addition to AMA number-one plates for the class winners, the winners of the Youth Senior overall (85cc Sr., Super Mini, Girls), C class overall, B class Overall, A class Overall (excluding Pro racers) were awarded sponsorships from Kenda Tires, KLIM Technical Gear, Wiseco, FMF, Fasst Co and Flexx Bars. If you haven't yet heard of this particular National Championship, that's because it's new. The AMA Kenda Big Sky Off-Road National Championship, presented by KLIM, was elevated to National Championship status this year by the AMA, giving amateur off-road racers from around the country the opportunity to compete for an AMA title in much the same way that Loretta Lynn's crowns class champions in motocross. Not only is the Big Sky event unique in that aspect, it's also held at one of the most beautiful off-road venues one could imagine.
