WHY THEY ARE THE NEW CHAMPS AT
THE LAKE ELSINORE FINAL

C
hampions were crowned
the weekend before at
the Utah National, but
at Lake Elsinore those Champions – Ryan Villopoto and Eli
Tomac - reasserted their dominance with a couple more wins
at the final outdoor National of
the season. Not that anyone
would be shocked by that outcome based on this season, but
anytime you have a round where
the championship has been decided all bets are off. You're
only as good as your last race
and there's no championship
strategy anymore, it's all about
winning. Throw in the extra challenge of the heat and a track
with challenging conditions and
maybe Villopoto and Tomac
would rest on their laurels. Not
a chance.
Villopoto got out front early on
and put on a masterful display of
riding en route to another double
sweep, his third in a row.
Although Tomac didn't dominate like the new 450 Champion did, he did ride just well
enough to nab his eighth win of
the season. Just like Villopoto
did.
