moto one but rebounded in
moto two with an 8-5," Sa-
vatgy said. "It feels good to
be back at the races."
Dylan Ferrandis grabbed
sixth ahead of Aaron Pless-
inger, Shane McElrath,
Jordon Smith and Garrett
Marchbanks.
250SMX
The 250SMX division saw
just as much up-and-down
action, with points leader
Monster Energy Star Rac-
ing Yamaha's Cole Davies
facing his share of adver-
sity. Like Lawrence in the
450 class, Davies entered
the 250SMX Championship
as the class's favorite after
winning both the 250SX
East Supercross and 250MX
Pro Motocross Champion-
ships this year, but he had
trouble right off the bat.
While enjoying a 30-second
lead in the first moto, he suf-
fered a mechanical, DNF'd
and was credited with 22nd.

WILD CARDS
Nick Romano and Shane McElrath won
their respective wild-card races, which
helped them earn a spot into the night
show. Names like Max Anstie, Dean
Wilson and Benny Bloss didn't make the
cut but will have another shot next week.
ANDERSON RETURNS
Jason Anderson's return to AMA racing
at Columbus was short-lived when early
in the second 450SMX moto the Twisted
Tea/H.E.P. Motorsports/Suzuki Team
rider rolled a double jump in the mud and
was clipped by Malcolm Stewart, who
had jumped the doubles, while he was
landing. Both went down. Stewart helped
Anderson, who was holding his wrist, to
his feet and off the track. Stewart got
back on the bike, but Anderson needed
medical attention. "Hated clipping
Jason on the landing," Stewart said
on social media. "I know that feeling,
and as soon as we landed, all I cared
about was making sure he was okay.
Unfortunately, that's one of the parts of
racing that sucks sometimes." Up until
then, Anderson was having a good day,
qualifying second and finishing fifth in
the first moto.
