Superbike Beaubier made a dramatic return to competition Saturday after missing four months following his Road America crash. Starting from pole after a 2:07.343 lap, the War- horse HSBK Ducati Flo4Law rider took the lead from Sean Dylan Kelly (OrangeCat Racing BMW) on lap two and controlled the race until Cameron Petersen moved ahead on lap eight. Petersen led four laps before Beaubier made a decisive pass on the final lap to win by 0.862 of a second. Bobby Fong finished third, with Sean Dylan Kelly fourth and PJ Jacobsen (Rahal Ducati Moto with Xpel) fifth. Jayson Uribe (OrangeCat Racing) was sixth, Hayden Gillim (Real Steel Honda) seventh and Benjamin Smith (Warhorse HSBK Ducati Flo4Law) eighth, followed by Brandon Paasch (M4 Ecstar Suzuki) and Superbike debutant Tyler Scott (M4 Ecstar Suzuki). Mathew Scholtz (Strack Rac- ing) had another mechanical problem, and JD Beach (Attack Performance Progressive Yama- ha Racing) crashed out. "But I was com- fortable where I was at, and I decided to take my chances on the last lap to make that pass. I think we both went way, way too deep at the end of the back straight, and I was able to get it turned a little quicker and bring it home to the line."
