Troubling Precedent
T
he AMA is urging all riders
and supporters of motorized
access to take immediate action
against a proposal that would
strip approximately four miles
of road from public access and
transfer ownership to private
landowners. Cawood Road is
located in Owsley County in
Eastern Kentucky and is an im
-
portant corridor for responsible
outdoor recreation.
Closing this road would set
a troubling precedent by al
-
lowing a public road to be shut
down at the request of a private
individual, potentially encourag
-
ing similar actions elsewhere
and leading to a broader loss of
public access across the state
and perhaps the country. We
believe it is the responsibility of
the Owsley County Fiscal Court,
as elected officials, to preserve
public access to Cawood Road
and not forfeit it for private
interests.
The AMA is requesting that
all supporters send an opposi-
tion letter to the Owsley County
Fiscal Court and attend the
meeting, which will be held
at 20 Main Street, Booneville,
Kentucky 41314, on Monday,
September 14, 2026, at 4 p.m.

involved, visit Access Under
Threat: Cawood Road Facing
Closure.

Closing a small portion of a road
in Kentucky could set a troubling
precedent everywhere by allowing
a public road to be shut down at the
request of a private individual.

"I'm happy to have re-signed
with the Red Bull KTM Factory
Racing team, because we've had
great past seasons winning in
MXGP, and this past year was
great in Supercross," Prado said.
"We achieved some podiums,
had a couple of heat race wins,
and now we've been very strong
outdoors. I'm just happy to be
working with this great group
of people for the future, so I am
super-excited and hopeful that
we can achieve our goals."
