BY JOHN SPURRIER LAWRENCEBURG, IN, JUNE 30 A ndrew Butler, Brandon Wilhelm and David Wolf each won their respective races at the Lawrenceburg Short Track, bringing their record to five wins out of six events. The night started with the 50cc event, which was won by Mason Nussbaum, over Grant Stapleton, Gabriel Lane and the rest of the field. In the 60cc feature, Wilhelm got the holeshot and the win over Skyler Beal (the only rider to stay on the same lap as Wilhelm), Brandon's sister Symantha Wilhelm, and Holly Butler. The 80cc race took two starts to run, as Robby Hill got pinched between Andrew Butler and another rider going into turn one and went down. On the restart, Andrew rode to a strong win, with Branson Wilhelm camped on his rear wheel. The pair finished ahead of Hill, Shelton Stapleton and Cody Harris. Andrew Butler returned to the track to win the 100cc feature, over Ben Baker, Trent Sheppard and the rest of the pack. He came off the line in third place, grabbed second on the back stretch, and passed early leader Baker a lap later to take the lead and the win. Baker held on for second, ahead of Sheppard, Joe Mathews Sr. and Joey Westhider. Billy Stepp grabbed the lead in the Open A event and led until turn two on the second lap, where Wolf went under him and took the lead. Lisa Baumgartner ran in third until she overcooked it in turn one on the second lap, slid out to the fence and let several riders by. At the halfway point, Barry Benkert Jr. got a great drive out of turn four to pass Baker and Stepp to claim the second spot. At the finish, it was Wolf, Benkert, Stepp, Baker and the rest of the pack. In the Pro-Am feature, Damon Stapleton charged into the lead, while Tyler Sheppard came off the line in third, got by Coy Matthews on the first lap and tried to catch Damon, but Damon refused to be caught and won the race in spite of a midrace red flag that came out when Joel Brown threw it away going into turn three. On the restart, Damon Stapleton again charged into the lead, ahead of Tyler, Matthews, Joey Ratz and Brown. Ratz got by Matthews, and then Brown passed Matthews on the next-to-last lap to finish fourth. Stepp got the holeshot and the win in the Over 30 feature, followed by Joe Matthews Jr., Albert Lowe, Mike Sullender and the rest of the pack. "Grandpa Jim" Beck charged into the lead on the back stretch and went wire to wire to claim the Over 50 feature, ahead of Butch Lowe, Ron Louderback and the rest of the field. Tyler Sheppard got the lead going up the back stretch in the Combo feature and led it all the way to the finish. Brown held down second place, ahead of Wolf, Damon Stapleton and the rest of the pack.
