BY DENNIS ALBREWCZYNSKI DORSET, OH, JUNE 11 A perfect day for motocross is what awaited competitors as they lined up at the gate at Dirtworld MX in Dorset, Ohio, on June 11. The sun was shining and the thermometer showed a cool 68 degrees, and a light breeze kept everyone comfort- able. This race was round five of the hotly contested Kames Sports Ohio Super Series, luring riders in from all over Ohio and Pennsylvania to do battle on the AMA District 12 track. Connor Ference from Oberlin, Ohio, was on fire in the 65cc (10-11) class. Ference piloted his KTM to victory in both motos, beating the field of seven racers. Tony Usko finished second both times out on his KTM. Allen Messersmith was the third- place finisher in both motos, and he, too, was riding a KTM. Ference also finished fourth overall in the 65cc (7-11) class, which was won by Shane Smallwood from Beaver, Pennsylvania. With 17 kids on the books for the 85cc (12-15) class, this had the potential to be a pretty exciting race, and exciting it was! Franklin, Pennsylvania's Ryan Green brought his Honda in for the win in moto one, while Elyria, Ohio, resident Todd Krieg came in for second on his Suzuki and Kyle Owens finished third, also on a yellow bike. Moto two was a little different. Green once again won, but this time Yamaha-mounted Curt Gaski came in second and Ryan Fry, also riding a YZ85, took third. When everything was sorted out, Green took the overall, Gaski got second and Krieg came in third. There were some familiar names in the Supermini class, as Krieg took the overall win with 2-1 finishes. First place in moto one and third in the second moto was good enough for second overall for Green. Fry was awarded third overall with 4-2 finishes. Clarendon, Pennsylvania's Jake Moore swept both motos of the Collegeboy class on his Honda. Matt Knowlson finished runner-up behind Moore in both motos, giving him second overall. David Kinkus took third overall with 5-3 finishes. Aaron Kline came in third in the first moto but was a DNS in moto two. It was another great day of racing at Dirtworld, thanks to the hard work of the staff. They give it their all on race day, and it shows. The next race at Dirtworld will be held on August 6, and it will be Six-Foot Trophy Day. One can always expect a big turnout for that! RESULTS 50 (4-6): 1. Jacob Corpman (KTM); 2.
