In addition to the close and exciting racing action that went on at the Detroit round of the AMA
Supermoto Series, there were a number of equally entertaining "supporting actors" that were
brought in to thrill the crowds in between races. Besides a Pro purse-paying Pit Bike race and
Trevor Vines' high-flying freestyle motocross show, the promoters brought in nine-time AMA
Observed Trials Champion Geoff Aaron and his Extreme Riding Entertainment Moto Trials X Show.
If you're not familiar with Aaron and his extreme riding show, the former AMA Amateur Athlete
of the Year performs on an obstacle course that is basically a ramp show that combines trials-obsta-
cle riding skills with trick riding. The 32-year-old Aaron spends 40 weekends a year, in between tri-
als events, doing his extreme-riding shows, and he travels the country with a tractor/trailer rig that
serves as a self-contained ramp show - a 35-foot aluminum obstacle course that he pulls from event
to event.
Aaron's show in Detroit was, as usual, awesome.
"We've been real busy performing all over the U.S. at different events for Red Bull and Dunlop,"
Aaron said. "Some of the shows are motorcycle related and some are not. Over the years we've
done shows at Supercross, motocross, Supermoto, Superbike, World Superbike and MotoGP
events, so we have pretty much performed at all of the major events through these connections."
Aaron got his start in trials and over the years has become the winningest rider in AMA history,
but in order to make a living, Aaron expanded into trick riding.
"Trials has been a big part of my life, and I enjoy doing all the competitions. It has really been a
great experience for me to travel to competitions over the years," Aaron said. "But trials is a small
sport and in order to make a living I had to branch off and start my company Extreme Riding Enter-
tainment and work on doing exhibitions."
"Hopefully, through our shows will expose people to the sport of trials and to new thrills in rid-
ing motorcycles," Aaron said.
