Barcia, Nichols Star in Glen Helen MotoFest
G
len Helen Raceway might no
longer host an official round
of the Pro Motocross Champion-
ship, but it still puts on a show.
This year marked its second
annual MotoFest Weekend, May
15-16, featuring a $100,000 Pro
purse over two days of mo

Pro Showcase drew many big

season prep ahead of the Pro
Motocross Championship, which
kicks off just down the freeway
on May 30 at Fox Raceway in
Pala, California.
Colt Nichols used consistency
to take the win at Friday's Stop

watch National, as the Twisted
Tea Suzuki rider went 2-2 for
the overall win. Nichols found
himself up front in the first moto
on multiple occasions but even

tually settled for second behind
Dylan Ferrandis' TLD Ducati.
Race two again saw him finish
runner-up to Justin Barcia. For
the second consecutive year,
Nichols took the Stopwatch win
and collected a cool $10,000
paycheck. The two-time champ
used the race to test his bike for
the upcoming Pro Motocross
season, as he admitted he's be
-
hind on outdoor prep and wants
to get comfortable with the RM-
Z450 on the outdoor course.
"I got off to a decent start that
time, but not as good as the first
one," Nichols said after moto
two. "I had to make some quick
passes on the first few laps, and
once I got into second, Justin
[Barcia] was already gone. I
