On the opening lap, Malinoski landed on Max Shane and both riders went down hard. Malinoski said that he dislocated his hip in the crash and that doctors "popped" it back in. Shane suffered a collapsed and lacerated lung and two broken ribs. "I was already committed to a triple," Malinoski said. "I clipped his head, I think, and it shot me right over the bars and right into the next jump. It was a gnarly one, but I'm all right. I have a dislocated hip and a hit to the head, obviously. Couldn't be more grateful to be okay. That was God watching over me." SMX NEXT Kayden Minear led a Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha sweep in the SMX Next main event.
